RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 27, 2010) – CRT/tanaka, the largest, independent public relations and marketing firm based in Virginia, has been named the #1 Best Place to Work in Virginia (small business category) by Virginia Business magazine and Best Companies Group.
This survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state’s economy, its work force and businesses. The Best Places to Work in Virginia list is made up of a total of 50 companies, split into three groups: 14 small employers (fewer than 100 employees), 16 mid-sized employers (100-250 employees) and 20 large-sized employers (more than 250 employees).
Virginia Beach-based Valkyrie Enterprise LLC was named the best mid-sized employer, and Chenega Federal Systems of Lorton was named the best large employer.
“What an honor,” said Mark Raper, CRT/tanaka chairman and CEO. “To receive this recognition and to work with the wonderful associates at CRT/tanaka every day – both are very special. We will continue to encourage creativity, fulfillment and a whatcanbe approach to our business, because it strengthens our clients, our communities and our remarkable staff.”
The two-part survey process consisted first of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top organizations and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings.
The final ranking was unveiled and published in the February 2011 issue of Virginia Business. For more information on the Best Places to Work in Virginia program, visit www.BestPlacesToWorkVA.com.
