Maria has a solid 25-year track record in marketing consumer products and services and has created and managed public relations programs for companies in a broad range of consumer categories, including fashion & beauty, retail, personal wellness, food & beverage, automotive, technology, toys, travel and non-profit. Currrently executive vice president of CRT/tanaka, she was president and co-founder of Patrice Tanaka & Company, Inc. She directs the fashion & beauty, retail and cause-related marketing divisions within CRT/tanaka's Consumer Practice.
With a specialty in cause-related marketing, she has spoken at numerous seminars on the topic, both in the U.S. and the U.K. Her cause-related marketing work was cited as an exemplary example of the discipline in "Brand Spirit: How Cause-Related Marketing Builds Brands" (John Wiley & Sons, Ltd., 1999). Under her management, her clients have won more than 65 industry awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award with Liz Claiborne for the "Women's Work" domestic violence awareness campaign at the 2002 SABRE Awards.
